The magic of Angry Lunch – Invite someone you don’t know to lunch!

Reading time: 2 minutes

I think I started doing this about 2 years ago. It’s a very simple idea and it increases the ability we have to get out of our comfort zone, as well as increasing our network of contacts.
What is the idea of the Angry Lunch?
Why not invite a person you admire and don’t know from anywhere to lunch with the following invitation:
Can I take you to lunch next week? My treat! I know we don’t know each other, but I feel we have a lot in common and could learn a lot from each other.
How easily people said yes to my invitation surprised me. And no, they don’t say yes just to get a free meal.
I started doing these lunches once a month and now I do them once a week. I have done over 50 such lunches/dinners and it has been amazing how much I have learned from such a small event.
Who do I invite to the Angry Lunch?
CEO’s and chairman’s of large companies, investors, entrepreneurs, teachers, consultants, speakers, and people who I find inspiring in some way.
What do I learn at the Angry Lunch?
Stories and examples of how not to do this and that, fresh ideas, feedback to what I’m doing, intermediation and synergies with other contacts.
What has come out of these Angry Lunches?

Some of these people are now our customers (and no, at these lunches I never tried to sell anything to anyone – this is one of the rules I impose on myself at these lunches – “You don’t sell anything to anyone!”), they are our mentors, they are our enablers, they are our friends, they are our followers, and they care about us.
